Seventeen's Map by George Hashiguchi

Hashiguchi’s photographs of the seventeen-year-olds he met whilst travelling across Japan from March 1987 to January 1988.

‘I wandered round strange towns, the mountains and seaside villages, and called to numerous boys and girls. Being suddenly addressed like this, they were naturally startled. “Who, me?”, “Why me?” were their reactions, and that was understandable. All I could say in reply was, “It’s fate”.’
